AWEA Statement on NCAR

The National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR) is a leading research and innovation resource within the Weather Enterprise that is critical in serving the needs of the American people. NCAR’s value is everywhere, from helping inform crop management, global shipping routes, and military operations, to improving power and telecommunications resilience, aircraft safety, and wildfire mitigation. For decades, NCAR has been pushing the state-of-the-science forward across the weather value chain, from observation systems and techniques to global and storm-scale modeling. AWEA looks forward to working with the Administration and the Congress to ensure national weather research capabilities are optimized and continue to empower the Weather Enterprise in saving lives, protecting communities, and increasing economic prosperity.
